Answer to
Frequently asked questions about Prostream API
What is an open API?
The Prostream open API is a programming interface that allows software developers to integrate their own applications with the Prostream platform. This API makes it possible to seamlessly connect different systems, automatically exchange data and streamline workflows within construction projects. It is designed with flexibility and scalability in mind, so that developers can extend functionality and build custom solutions that meet the specific needs of their organization. This ensures more efficient document management, project overview and collaboration within the construction industry.
Think of Prostream as the central place where information and documents come together for users. We want to make it possible for every customer to connect the tools they use to Prostream. That is why we are developing an open (public) API. That way, everyone can build something with the Prostream API.
How does the open API work?
The Prostream open API works by allowing developers to create software connections between Prostream and other tools. This is done through a series of standardized requests (GET for queries and POST for changes) that allow you to query data and automate processes. Developers can use the API to share information and streamline workflows, such as document management and project data within the construction industry.
More technical details and instructions can be found here: Prostream API Documentation.
What can I do with the API?
The API now allows you to retrieve and manage project information within construction projects. This makes it possible to organize project data, for example, so that it is automatically created in Prostream. Although the API is still under development, it already offers value by efficiently making project data accessible and structured. Further extensions of the API are expected to increase its functionalities.
For the most up-to-date details, see the Prostream API Documentation.
How do I access the API?
Access to the Prostream API works via an API key, which functions as a kind of password for applications to be able to exchange data securely. Users who want to integrate with the Prostream API must create an account with Prostream. You can then generate an API key by logging in and navigating to your user profile. This key gives you access to the API, with which you can, for example, request and manage project data.

How secure is the API?
The security of the Prostream API is guaranteed by various authentication and authorization protocols. This means that only authorized users can access data via the API. The API uses modern security techniques such as API keys and secure connections via HTTPS to ensure that data exchange is secure. In addition, there are measures to limit access to the API, such as rate-limiting, which ensures that abuse or overload of the system is prevented.
For the most up-to-date details, see the Prostream API Documentation.
What are API limits?
An API limit means that there is a maximum number of requests (questions or commands) that your system is allowed to send to the Prostream API per second or minute. This limit, also called rate-limiting, prevents the API from becoming overloaded or abused by too many requests at the same time. This ensures that the API remains stable and secure for all users. For Prostream, this limit is 5 requests per second per API key, user, or organization.
