BIM viewer
With the BIM viewer you can see all the necessary information directly and everyone knows where they stand. That provides peace of mind.
The construction sector is sensitive to failure costs. Work is done with the best intentions, but sometimes without the right information. Within Prostream you use the built-in BIM viewer from Autodesk: the cream of the crop in terms of performance and features. In combination with the automatic version control you create a single source of truth for all those involved in building and managing projects. Without it costing you a fortune. Simply, standard, within your document management system. This way you prevent unnecessary, expensive mistakes.
The benefits of the BIM viewer
Always working with the latest information
Of course, for ‘flat’ drawings you want to have the latest one, but perhaps that is even more the case for 3D models. Because you use automatic version control in Prostream, you always have the latest version for your 3D files.
The benefits of Autodesk, right in Prostream
The built-in 3D viewer comes from Autodesk. This viewer is extremely versatile and you don’t need your own license. You can not only view a building from all sides, but you can also choose to view a specific part, filter on specific floors or elements or even walk through the building.
Collaborate simultaneously
With the 3D viewer in Prostream you can also place comments or annotations on a building directly if something needs to be adjusted or if something is unclear. This way you work together on the creation of a building at the same time.
Seamlessly integrated with your working method
The BIM viewer is fully integrated into your Prostream environment. This means that you can quickly switch between other Prostream features, such as document management, sending messages or creating tasks. This way, you still keep all the information about your project in one place, even when discussing large, complex 3D models.
Thanks to the Solibri integration, you can also automatically synchronize your BIM models to Solibri.

Frequently asked questions about the BIM viewer
What is an IFC-viewer?
An Industry Foundation Classes viewer, or IFC viewer for short, is a software solution specifically designed for viewing and analyzing building information models that are created in an IFC file format. IFC files are used in construction to capture three-dimensional geometric and non-geometric information such as building designs, materials, spatial relationships, and other data.
An IFC viewer enables users to visualize and inspect complex building models, which allows for more effective collaboration and coordination between different stakeholders within the project. In addition, an IFC viewer can be useful for early identification of errors, scheduling of work, and sharing project information with project members and clients. It is an indispensable tool for modern construction projects.
What is the difference between a BIM and an IFC viewer?
A BIM viewer and an IFC viewer are both commonly used software tools in construction. A BIM viewer helps to view and understand detailed building information models (such as IFC files, but often other file formats as well), while an IFC viewer is specifically designed to open and display only IFC files. The BIM viewer in Prostream is therefore an IFC viewer, and more.
What is the BIM viewer?
In Prostream it is possible to convert IFC and Revit files to 3D and then view, edit and check them in the BIM viewer. The viewer shows the building in question in different perspectives: front view, side view, rear view, top and bottom view. You can also walk through the building, see which materials are used and much more.
How does the BIM viewer work?
To be able to work in the BIM viewer, you first need to convert your IFC or Revit files (or other BIM file) into 3D. You do this by hovering over the file in question with your mouse button. A pop-up will then appear in which you can select the 3D icon. Your file will now be converted.
Once the conversion is complete, a preview will appear. If you now click on ‘View 3D model’, the viewer will open. This includes various useful functions with which you can perform your quality checks
