Corné Bertens, BIM-consultant at Equans.

“Sharing documents in a digitally secure way is very important.”

This article is mainly written about Docstream, the predecessor and solid foundation of Prostream. The components of the products are comparable and are supplemented in Prostream with the modern functions of today. The piece below gives a good picture of both the essence of Docstream and that of Prostream.

We recently spoke with Corné Bertens, BIM consultant at Equans, over a cup of coffee. He came to take a look behind the scenes and met our support department ‘in real life’: “Finally saw the faces of the people I can turn to with all my technical questions about the system.”

It is always nice to be able to think along, but also to be able to give my honest feedback

Securing documents digitally has become much more important

“It’s always nice to be able to think along, but also to be able to give my honest feedback to companies that are serious about storing our documents.” Corne begins. “As Equans Netherlands, we have been using the Docstream platform for years at several locations and projects, which has always provided us with the powerful tools to properly safeguard our project documents. Digitally securing documents has become even more important than the old folder system, which we used to use. In addition to the ease of use, security of the environment has become super important. You don’t want your documents to just end up on the street.”

Safety is of great importance, but so is convenience

“Whatever software package you use, it must be safe without losing sight of ease of use. Or should we turn it around? That it must be super user-friendly, without compromising security… That’s why we are always working with serious partners who know how important security is on the dangerous internet, because we all prefer to work in the cloud, to quickly share information with colleagues and customers. Communicate via the platform and stop sending emails to each other. Securing your information and sharing in a super nice and safe environment, that’s what you want to benefit from now and in the future to make your projects a success.”

Corné continues: “And then it’s nice that you can also take a look behind the scenes at a company, how they handle your documents. But also that you are asked to give your honest technical opinion about the user-friendliness of a platform. You can say where they might have missed the boat and/or where failure costs are lurking when using certain functions within a platform.”
