What does a construction project manager actually do?
In short: a construction project manager keeps the programme and budget on track, coordinates the contractor, subcontractors and client, and makes sure everyone works from the same, current information.
If that’s your role, none of this is news. The job description was never the problem. The problem is carrying out those tasks with information that keeps changing, gets scattered, and doesn’t always reach the right person at the right time. The cost of working reactively
This isn’t just about efficiency. On a €2 million project, that’s between €100,000 and €400,000 in rework, money that comes straight out of the margin the project manager is judged on.
